Other barcode types

It covers all 128 ASCII characters: upper and lower case letters, digits and symbols.
All-digit runs are packed two per symbol with code set C, chosen automatically, so numbers make short barcodes.
A built-in check character keeps misreads rare.

It cannot hold accented or non-Latin characters. Use a QR code or Data Matrix for those.

Is there a length limit?

There is no fixed limit, but longer data makes a longer barcode. Up to about 20 characters is practical.

Will standard scanners read it?

Yes. Virtually every linear barcode scanner reads Code 128 out of the box.
