Finding the coordinates

In Google Maps, press and hold a spot to see coordinates such as 40.7580, -73.9855. The first number is latitude, the second is longitude. If you are on site, press "Use my location".

Two formats

  • Map link: a Google Maps address that opens on iPhone, Android and computers. Recommended.
  • geo: coordinates: the standard location URI. On Android it lets people choose any installed maps app.

FAQ

Can I use a street address instead?
Address lookup would need an outside server, so it is not built in. Search the address in your maps app, copy its share link and make a website QR code from it.
Can it open a specific maps app?
Copy the place's share link from that maps app and make a website QR code. It will open in that app.
