Text QR code generator

Your text is stored directly in the code, so it shows up on screen when scanned, even offline.

How much text fits?

One QR code holds up to about 2,900 Latin letters and digits. Korean, Japanese and Chinese characters take 3 bytes each in UTF-8, so about 980 of them fit. The more text you add, the denser the code gets and the harder it is to scan at small sizes, so we recommend staying under 300 characters.

Ideas

  • Descriptions on museum labels or plant tags
  • Instructions or inspection checklists on machines
  • Clues for treasure hunts and escape rooms
  • Serial numbers and notes for inventory

FAQ

Does it work without internet?
Yes. The text lives inside the code, so any scanner can read it offline.
Korean or Japanese text shows up garbled.
QRink stores text as UTF-8. Current phone cameras read it fine. Only very old scanner apps may show garbled characters.
